Research activities are carried out on a regular basis, both through field missions aimed to collect first-hand data and information, and through thematic seminars held in Pavia. In this section you may find some of the most recent articles and papers written by our Faculty and published in international journals. It is worth mentioning the particular attention given to the issue of Human Development and Capability Approach (HDCA). Prof. Enrica Chiappero Martinetti, an active member of our School Board, is in fact vice-president of the HDCA, chaired by the Nobel Prize for Economics Professor Amartya Sen. In the field of Economic Growth and Policy-Making for Development, Prof. Marco Missaglia is coordinating a joint research project which we are realizing with the University of Siena in Italy, and the Universities of Bethlehem, Bir Zeit and An-Najah in Palestine. The project is financially supported by the Ministry for University and Research (MUR) and aims at contributing to the socio-economic recovery and development of the Palestinian Territories through quantitative (CGE Modelling) and qualitative (sectoral studies) techniques. In this section you can also find a collection of valuable theses written by CDN Alumni on issues related to their internship experience and/or research interests. Each year the CDN also organizes regular public events in occasion of the conclusion of the residential part of the Master in Cooperation and Development. These events represent an important opportunity for students to discuss and debate current issues in the field of Cooperation for Development with representatives of EU and UN Institutions, NGOs and Research Centres.
