Born in Garlasco (Italy) the 19th February 1954.

Degree in Biology (1981).

PhD in Environmental Sciences (1988).

Research fellow in the Department of Animal Biology, Pavia University (1991-2001).

Associate professor of Zoology in the Department of Animal Biology, Pavia University (since 2001).

Director of the Master in Wildlife Management, Pavia University (2002-2003).

Scientific interests include, among basic research, the study of: relationships between habitat structure and animal population parameters such as density, breeding success, social behaviour; ecology of animal communities in rice fields; intraspecific variations of social behaviour in Vertebrates; ecological and behavioural aspects of predation in birds; effects of habitat fragmentation on populations and communities; effect of experimental manipulation of rice fields on mosquito populations. Applied researches are carried out on habitat management and biodiversity conservation within protected and unprotected areas.
