FROM FEBRUARY 2002 TO NOW
• Description
Since 2002 I have been engaged in research projects involving the study of the plasticity of muscle tissue in different physiological and pathological conditions (aging, exercise, muscle disuse, muscular dystrophy, diabetes).
The studies were performed on human muscle biopsies or on samples from animal models; biopsies were functionally characterized, through in vivo and in vitro evaluations of force and speed of muscle contraction, and structurally through immunohistochemical analysis of tissue.
My attention was focused on the study of protein profile variations in muscle samples: structural proteins, metabolism proteins, antioxidant defense systems and transport proteins were studied using proteomic techniques (single and two-
In some projects the presence of oxidative stress was evaluated through lipid and protein oxidation assays.
Finally, I recently completed my studies by the analysis of target genes that regulate the expression of proteins belonging to signaling pathways underling skeletal muscle physiology. By RT-
Experimental works led to the publication of 14 scientific papers in international journals.
Finally I have been engaged in teaching activity at the University of Pavia, I held seminars and I have participated to national and international conferences always making a scientific contribution with data presentation both as oral communications and as posters
OTHER EXPERIENCES
• In AY 2010/2011 I have been engaged in teaching activity as an Adjunct Professor of Physiology in the degree of Health and Techniques Professions at the University of Pavia
• With the research activity I have done Tutoring activity of Human Physiology for the degree course in Nursing and Obstetrics Science, University of Pavia (AY from AY 2006/07 2009/2010)
• In November 2004 I did an Internship at the School of Physiology and Biophysics 2004 ("Heterogeneity and plasticity of skeletal muscle. Physiological and Molecular Methods for the study of heterogeneity and plasticity of skeletal muscle"); the course was held at the Department of Anatomy and Physiology, University of Padova, director of the school Prof. G.
