STELIO MARCHESE

Il contenzioso greco-turco nel contesto mediorientale

N.3/1986

Summary — In this ana1ysis the greek-turkish contrast is considered as a part of the system of tensions entangling in the Middle East. You can find there the same tendency towards the exasperation of the regional and local problems up to the point of making them international affairs. Every attempt of mediation therefore leeds to the creation of a process of continuous advertisement of the contrasts, which are even diplomatic and economical, thus making them last.

The connection is particularly evident in Cyprus, in fact it is now the centre of the commercial traffic which backs the Lebanon war and the center of the greek-turkish tension. Of wider importance is the turkish reaction to the hostility of Greece that is trying to suffocate every attempt of the Turkish approach to CEE.

Ankara, rejected by Europe, is becoming the centre of a new diplomatic Middle Eastern connection.
