La facoltà di scienze poltiche di Pavia e le sue riviste: 1926-1941.
L' «Annuario di politica estera» e gli «Annali di scienze politiche»
N. 4/1987
Summary In 1926, the very year of its institution, the Faculty of Political Sciences of Pavia started the publication of the yearly review, the "Annuario di Politica Estera". The "Annuario" was intended to give way to a movement of studies enabling a first class foreign policy, according to the wishes of the Fascist government. Politicians, journalists and scholars gave their contribution to each issue, devoted to questions and problems of foreign policy, occurred in the current year. Publication ceased in 1930 and it started again in 1935 with a single issue, to which contributed only young scholars, strongly in favour of a pro-French policy, whilst the Fascist government was inclining to friendship with Germany.
In 1928 appeared the first issue of the "Annali di Scienze Politiche", a quarterly review, which dealt with Politics, Economics and History. The "Annali" presented themselves as an instrument of political and economic culture and an organ of information of the international intellectual movement. The review was meant to reach the students of the faculty who wanted to enter diplomatic career and public administration as well as Political Science scholars. The review, which was to cease in 1941 owing to war, could count on valuable scholars and contributed, together with the "Annuario", to render the Faculty of Political Sciences of Pavia a particularly alive and fertile centre. On the whole, both reviews, although moving along the official régime line, showed a certain autonomy, expecially as far as the choice of the questions dealt with. Such a choice appears to be the more valuable, the more the questions treated have no direct contact with the present.
