LOREDANA RICCI

L'immagine dell'Unione Sovietica attraverso il «Corriere della Sera» del periodo fascista

N. 145

Summary — This essay analyses the "Corriere della Sera" reports on the Soviet Union during the hard and difficult years of the young socialist government, from Lenin’s death to the beginning of the 2nd World War.

The well-known Italian newspaper, published in a country where the fascist regime was imposing a strict censorship, gives images of a USSR materially and morally impoverished by the "barbarity" of bolshevism. Political, economic and social structures appear destroyed and the country seems condemned to a complete "ruin". Only few articles oppose this pessimistic view.
