Summary — This paper presents some electoral systems presently adopted in Europe (Italy, Sweden, Spain, England, France, Germany), and some new proposal of apportionments employing thresholds, bonus and roundings. A general method is introduced for these last cases. Such a method minimizes the errors which are unavoidable in all proportional systems. Power indices are employed in order to point out advantages and disadvantages of the various solutions. In particular, the results of a simulation on the last Italian elections are presented, where seats and corresponding power indices are computed for all the examined electoral system.
