La Camera dei Lords nel dibattito sulle riforme costituzionali in Gran Bretagna

N. 177

Summary - The article examines the present-day powers of the House of Lords, its recent developments and, expecially, the debate on its reform. Reformers have different opinions: the moderate ones seek changes based on the existing House, others want to replace it with a completely new elected one and the more radical proposals want to abolish the Lords.

Recents decades have witnessed a growing role of the Lords, expecially after the introduction of the Life Peers in 1958, so it appears probably that the Upper House will continue with the same procedures, functions and powers for much longer.
