Summary - In demographic terms, the discrepancies that exist among the 27 countries of the European Union substantially concern the natural dynamics from a side and, the migratory one from the other. In our work, we have chosen to study both the aspects, paying attention on two specific territorial circles of reference - Italy and Spain - in the first part of the study, and a more scrupulous and detailed attention on the Spanish case during the other part of the contribution. In such sense, it has been easy to use and, therefore, to exploit the previous developed experiences, within the framework of an earlier contribution, about the role of foreign women in the recent upturn of fertility in our country.   In particular, after having crossed the fundamental phases of the past migratory transition of Italy and Spain from emigration countries to countries of immigration, a double analysis has been carried out - first on the evolution of the demographic dimension of the foreign presence in the Iberian country in the passage from the XX to the XXI century, then on the reproductive behaviour during the last years of last century and in the first years of the new century – this would allow to value if and how foreigners fertility contributes - and it will contribute in the next years - to keep the levels of fertility "sustained" in Spain.
