"La Costituzione dal 1948 al 2008"
Taking the lead from Dossetti, the author sets out to look for the origins of the Italian Constitution, which is often considered as the product of a specific historical phase. In fact, the period was characterised by the clash of particular political forces (those which then dominated the Constituent Assembly), and of a complex confrontation of ideologies (liberal, catholic-democratic, socialist or Marxist). These views are all correct but not enough to understand the roots of the Italian Constitution. In order to understand the miracle of this constitution, born out of such a difficult political and ideological context, we need to realize that the real common ground of the different political forces dominating the Constitutional Assembly lies in the principles of constitutionalism.
In particular, the author focuses on two specific themes: the search for and strengthening of the juridical guarantee of the Constitution, and the link with the epoch-making Second World War, that is the trans-temporal vision, not confined within national boundaries, which characterises the Italian Constitution and the phase of constitutionalism of which it is a very good example.
