Titolo:
"Interdisciplinarietà o multidisciplinarietà? Le facoltà di Scienze politiche, oggi"

The text refers to the meaning of inter-disciplinarity, as the qualifying feature of a Faculty of Political Sciences: that is, the compresence in it of several academic disciplines as economics, law, political science, sociology, history and, of course, those devoted to methodology. This inter-disciplinarity may be clearly defined pointing out four main characteristics. First, it is an external inter-disciplinarity, which brings together diverse disciplines, each of them carrying its own linguistic and conceptual tools. Second, this inter-disciplinarity is generic (not specific), because its network of relationships among disciplines is without a centre (a single discipline as the point of convergence of one-to-one relationships with the others), but on the contrary connects each discipline with each of the others. Third, in most cases it is also an intrinsic inter-disciplinarity, in the sense that similar conceptual tools and/or paradigms of thought founded on analogies elicit the cooperation among disciplines. Fourth and finally, it is a constituent inter-disciplinarity (not a contingent one), because it corresponds to a principle stated in the beginnings and mantained as a living tradition in the eighty years long life of the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Pavia
