An account of more than a century of history, from the foundation of the Ivory Coast colony to nowadays, shows how violence is lastingly inscribed in the social panorama of the country and how the occurrence of repeated crises endures over time. The different attention foreign scholars gave to these violent crises reveals that their positioning is often too close to the interests of the past colonial power, to the detriment of detached and impartial analyses.
