"Il Brasile in guerra"
Brazil participated directly in the Second World War, sending a contingent of 25,000 men engaged along the Gothic line and in Po valley between the middle of 1944 and May 1945. This article takes a look at the origins of these events and the action of some of the leading exponents in Brazilian history during the first Vargas period (1930-1954), while also considering the domestic political conditions and the international relations that led the Federation to enter the war in August 1942, and subsequently to send the Força Expedicionária Brasileira (FEB) to the Italian front. In addition to essays resulting from recent research, the sources used also include contemporary memoirs.
