"L’Ucraina nel processo di ricostruzione della sfera d’influenza russa"

L’Ucraina nel processo di ricostruzione della sfera d’influenza russa After the collapse of Soviet Union, many scholars looked at the future of the international system as a long period of unipolarity. The attacks of 09/11/2011 vanished these hypothesis and the trend in the political thought was the arising of a new bipolar system, based on the United States- China competition. Also this position is a deep-rooted misunderstanding about the end of the Cold War and the internal conditions of Russia in the Nineties. Nowadays the United States and Russia are competing again. In the Putin and Medvedev era, Russian hard power has been restored and the new political narrative of Russkiy Mir has been implemented. Ukraine, due its significance in terms of history, national identity and strategic relevance, is the first important theatre where the renewed Russian power would be tested.
