In the last few years, the political
and economic crisis of the Mediterranean
countries increased the difficulties of the euro-
mediterranean relation, and moved its focus
from economic cooperation to security policy.
The European Union did not achieved its targets.
On the contrary, the Mediterranean relations
deteriorated both for the rising extremism
and the Mediterranean countries disaffection
for Europe. This essay aims to examine the
causes of the EU Mediterranean policy failure
and to suggest some feasible developments.
