Analog integrated circuits

Insegnamento Anno Accademico 14-15

Docente/i:

Denominazione del corso: Analog integrated circuits
Codice del corso: 504435
Corso di laurea: Electronic Engineering
Sede: Pavia
Settore scientifico disciplinare: ING-INF/01
L'insegnamento è caratterizzante per: Electronic Engineering
Crediti formativi: CFU 9
Sito web del corso: n.d.

Obiettivi formativi specifici

The course teaches the design of analog and analog-digital interface. The designed circuits are the basis of signal processing systems for a variety of electronic applications. The objectives of the course include, in addition to theoretical study, the use of CAD design tools normally used in the profession as a designer of integrated circuits

Programma del corso

  • Review the characteristics of the MOS transistor electronics, intuitive explanation of the behavior of physical models to large and small signal, noise, second order effects (subthreshold conduction, the effects of high field, short-channel effects, ..). Comparison of MOS-bipolar, passive components (resistors, capacitors and inductors), problems, and layout techniques.
  • Design of basic analog blocks. Circuit voltage and bias current. Current mirrors. Differential pair.
  • Two-stage operational amplifiers. Typical specifications of an integrated operational, gain, offset, common mode rejection and power. Bandwidth and compensation, slew rate. Noise.
  • Operational amplifiers with different topologies. Single-stage folded cascode telescope amplifier with mirrors, multi-stage amplifiers, differential amplifiers completely.
  • Comparators.
  • Using MATLAB. Study of sampling, quantization and reconstruction with MATLAB. Study of the properties and limitations of the FFT in Simulink. Nyquist-rate converters: full-flash, two-step flash, folding, mixed.
  • Sigma-Delta Modulators
