Background and specific aims

The research activity is mainly focused on:

  • extracellular matrix remodeling and collagen turnover in physiological and pathological conditions  (fibrosis, aging, tendon connective tissue homeostasis, tunor invasion, gingival overgrowth)
  • epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition.

Research projects

The main research projects are:

1) Characterization of extracellular matrix remodeling and collagen turnover mechanisms in human tendons and tenocytes during aging and in pathological conditions, by morphological and molecular methods.

2) Characterization of the effect of extracellular matrix components on pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cell phenotype, with particular attention to the expression of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition markers

Facilities and equipment

Expertise:

cell biology, gene expression analysis, western blot, zimography, immunofluorescence, histological techniques.
