Biography


Fabio Rugge (1951) is full professor of History of Political Institutions since 1991. He teaches History of Public Administration and Comparative History of Political Institutions in the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Pavia. He graduated in Political Science from the Catholic University of Milan. He has been Jemolo Fellow at Nuffield College (Oxford) and Humboldt Fellow at the Technische Universitaet (Berlin). He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the IUSS in Pavia and of the doctoral programme on “Institutions, Ideas and Political Movements in Contemporary Europe”. A member of the editorial board of several journals (“Il Politico”, “Storia Amministrazione Costituzione”, “Scienza e Politica”, "Public Administation Review" etc.), he chairs the Working Group for Administrative History of the IIAS (Brussels). He served as a member of the Executive Committee of the International Social Science Council. He is the president of the Romagnosi Foundation – School for Local government. Since November 2005 he serves as the dean of the Political Sciences Faculty in Pavia.
