Academic curriculum

I am currently engaged in an EU-FP7 project on Social Innovation - CRESSI 'Creating Economic Space for Social Innovation' and lecturer in "International Cooperation and Development Policies". Recently, I have participated as researcher in Laboratorio Expo (Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli) contributing to the analysis of post-2015 development challenges for EXPO MILAN 2015, which contributed to the Milan Charter.

For Laboratorio Expo, I have produced a scientifi documentary which traces the difficult path of a historically unequal country like Brazil towards social sustainability: it is called "Collective Love"

Bachelor in Social Sciences for Cooperation and Development - University of Pavia (Italy),
Master in Advanced Development Economics - University of Florence (Italy)

I have spent several visiting periods abroad, for example at
UNU-WIDER - the World Institute for Development Economics Research (Helsinki, Finland)
CIPR - Center for Inter-American Policy and Research (New Orleans, USA)
UN-CEPAL/ECLAC - Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Santiago de Chile, Chile).

Apart from research I have been engaged in some consultancy activities, especially in the fields of sustainable tourism development, e.g. for the EU-project BRIDGE-IT (winner of the UNWTO 2009 Ulysses Award for non-governmental innovation) and for the Province of Milan (condividiAMO).

Research interests

I am a development economist with particular interest in institutions: where they come from, which role they play for human development. Currently I am engaged in two projects: Laboratorio Expo (Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli) and an EU-FP7 project on Social Innovation - CRESSI. My research activities range from quantitative analysis of social participation in Mali and Ghana to network analysis; methodology development; institutional theory; global issues and sustainable tourism development
