Degree options for Engineering students

An evolving syllabus

These pages are for those thinking of enrolling in the Faculty of Engineering.

The continual evolution of scientific knowledge means continual revision of the courses on offer. Each year sees the launch of new degrees and courses and the closure or modification of old ones.

The university reform

This ongoing development takes place within the framework of the profound changes wrought by the European university reform on the entire Italian university system, which has adopted three main objectives:
a) reduction of the rate of university drop out and of time taken to graduate;
b) formation of professional figures in line with industry requirements;
c) alignment of the Italian degree system with the European system.

New degree structures

The 2000/2001 academic year saw the enactment of the European University reform. Starting from the 2001/2002 academic year, the three year degree courses were organized according to the new regulations.

Course credits, used to measure students' overall progress in their chosen degree structure, were adopted for the first time.
An aptitude test at enrolment was also introduced. This gives students an indication of which academic areas will require the most work in their first year of study.
