Specific course objectives

The student will gain knowledge of the main problems related to the wastewater treatment plant management and the upgrading techniques.

Course programme

WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS MONITORING
Overview of the main treatment processes. Start - up and Management. Monitoring techniques. Sampling strategy. Biological unit process malfunctions and the related remedies.

PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT
Aeration systems testing. Hydrodynamics tests. Malfunctioning in clarifier and its remeides. Sludge clarification tests.

SLUDGE MANAGEMENT
Stabilitation. Anaerobic digestion start-up.
