Course name: Building technology and typology
Course code: 501016
Degree course: Ingegneria Edile-Architettura
Disciplinary field of science: ICAR/10
University credits: CFU 12
Course website: n.d.
Specific course objectives
The course aims to deep the knowledge of architectural typology and building technology oriented to integrated design of buildings.
The course stresses the idea of a synthetic approach to building design process, which takes into account both aesthetical and technological issues.
Course programme
The course aims to emphasize high levels of autonomy among the students both during theoretical lectures and design laboratory.
The course has a multi-disciplinary approach to technological design process, in order to train students to manage different and integrated approaches in an holistic perspective.
Didactic contents of the course deal with building analysis of both technological and typological aspects, due to underline and deepen the main topic of technical feasibility of the building itself.
As regards typological aspects, students are asked to put attention to functional aspects, also related to internal and external distribution.
Lessons underline relations between the architectural concept and its technological translation into real building, by means of progressive materialization of the original idea. Such a process is stressed both on a theoretical level and trough examples.
Further topic of the course is the design of constriction details in order to learn in managing traditional and innovative materials and techniques, and also in order to verify effective transportation of architectural and aesthetical ideas into technological details.
