Specific course objectives
A deep knowledge of solid mechanics and structural mechanics, referred to two-dimensional problems, is the general aim. These subjects, completed in following courses from the application viewpoint, is characterising an engineer interested in structural problems.
Course programme
Continuum Mechanics
General formulations. Plane states. Polar coordinates formulations.
Structural Mechanics
Basic elements of beam theory. Theory of plates. Bending plates, formulations and methods of solutions. Theory of shells, revolutions shells.
Limit Analysis
Limit analysis for beams in bending. Continuum mechanics formulation. Plates in bending.
Course entry requirements
The knowledge of the elements developed in the first level homologous courses is required.
