Specific course objectives
The general aim of the course is to provide students basic knowledge in continuum mechanics and structural theory. Fundamental laws are focused: equilibrium, compatibility, principal of virtual work, constitutive equations.
Beam theory is developed and methods of solution are dealt with, looking at following more applied courses.
Course programme
Solid Mechanics
Stress state. Cauchy tensor. Strain state. Principle of virtual work. Elastic state. Elastic constants. General formulation of the elastic problem. Resistance criteria.
Saint-Venant problem
