Specific course objectives

The basic aim of the course is to complete student basic preparation on the discipline, following the elements developed in bachelors degree. Generally speaking, an engineer with fundamental knowledge in structural mechanics is expected to be formed.

Course programme

Stability
Static method and energy method for buckling problems. Raileigh quotient, Trefftz method.

Elements of Continuous Mechanics

Elements of Beam Theory

Plates
Basic hypotheses and formulations.

Bending plates
Characteristics and examples.

Shells
Revolution shells.

Course entry requirements

The knowledge of the elements developed in the first level homologous course is required.
