2012-13 Academic year

Course name: Advanced topics in communication and sensing
Course code: 505014
Degree course: Ingegneria Elettronica
Disciplinary field of science: ING-INF/01
University credits: ECTS 3
Course website: http://tlclab.unipv.it/

Specific course objectives

This course was conceived to enrich the background of students specializing in "Space Communication and Sensing" by exposing them to specific, edge-cutting research topics. Science and technique in aerospace today progress so fast that it is impractical to keep the pace on the regular courses. This additional course will make every year a choice among the leading, applicative, hot topics, connecting the theoretical lectures with the industrial applications. Speeches are planned by both professors and individuals from industry, research and spin-offs.

Course programme

The course programme changes every year as external speakers from industry, research centres and other universities are invited according to the most up-to-date trends in research and market.

Course entry requirements

Basic knowledge of Remote Sensing for surveillance and Earth Observation, available from the undergraduate course "Introduzione al Telerilevamento/Introduction to Remote Sensing".

Course structure and teaching

Lectures (hours/year in lecture theatre): 23
Practical class (hours/year in lecture theatre): 0

Testing and exams

Attending classes is the intended way of acquiring the relevant contents. Though, students who happen to be unable to attend will be required to carry out a short review and report on it, the topic being one of those dealt with in the course. This may also be made in cooperation with one of the companies involved in the course.
