Specific course objectives
Obiective of the course is to provide a framework in order to understand how market economy works and why there is a need for a government intervention.
Course programme
The course explores the structure of the market economy and the proper role of the government in the regulation of the environment. It will help students develop the tools to estimate the costs and benefits of environmental regulations.
Broad methods and topics include:
- How market economy works. Why market economy fails to work in efficient way. There is a need for a public intervention? What are the instruments of the government in order to solve the economic failures.
- Environmental economics: instruments and policies. What type of regulation works best? How to evaluate environmental programs?
