Specific course objectives
Course programme
The course aims at illustrating the theoretical and applied aspects of electrochemical devices for energy transformation and storage. The first part begins with a reminder of the basic concepts of chemistry and physics and continues with the study of the kinetics of the charge transfer and mass transport by diffusion and migration. The main electrochemical DC techniques and those based on the concept of electrochemical impedance are then discussed. The second part of the course is devoted to the study of batteries, fuel cells and electrochemical supercapacitors. In particular, lithium batteries as well as polymer and solid oxide fuel cells will be considered. Laboratory activities are also foreseen.
