Specific course objectives

The course is structured and organized to provide students with the information and tools necessary for the understanding of the drawings and the representation of a building according to the different scales of representation. The student will also gain a good knowledge and ability to use IT tools for the representation of the project.

Course programme

The course consists of lectures and practical exercises on the use of CAD software for buildings design.

Lessons
The lessons address the issue of the representation of the architectural project: graphic conventions on the basis of representation scales and the size of the object to be represented, from the urban dimension to the scale of construction detail. It also provides the basics for the design of housing: the spatial organization of the environment, the minimum functional and appropriate to fulfill the size of residential land.

Exercises
The exercises involve learning and putting into practice the CAD programs through the design of an object elementary building for housing.

Course entry requirements

Knowledge of the technical drawing and of computer graphics.

The examination consists in designing a house using CAD programs and a discussion of the design choices.
