Specific course objectives
The course has two objectives:
1. provide students with the basic knowledge of the main components of the chemical plants;
2. the study of the processes of industrial chemistry involved in the production of fuels or whose raw materials are involved in the production of fuels.
Course programme
- Chemical plants: tanks for liquids and gases, transfer pumps for liquids and gases, the production and the management of heat in chemical plants, reactors, separation techniques: evaporation, drying, distillation.
- Oil industry: characteristics of the oil - desalination - topping - chemical processes on light fractions: polymerization, alkylation, isomerization - Chemical processes on mediam fractions: isomerization, reforming - Chemical processes on the heavy fractions: thermal cracking and catalytic cracking, hydrocracking - Chemical processes of refining : hydrodesulfurization, desulfurization Doctor.
- Industry of sulfur: production of S8, SO2, H2SO4.
- Production of N2, O2, Ar.
- Industry of nitrogen: synthesis of ammonia and nitric acid.
