Structural Biology Investigators

Our division is composed of two laboratories that act synergistically, forming a core unit to study different biological topics using structural and molecular biology. The research investigators in our unit focus on various research topics:

  • Andrea Mattevi, professor of molecular biology.

Prof. Mattevi is the head of the Biological Crystallography laboratory. The main research lines involve structural and biochemical characterization of flavin-dependent enzymes of medical and industrial relevance.

  • People working in Prof. Mattevi's research group:

  • Claudia Binda, associate professor of molecular biology.

Prof. Binda´s research focuses on the structural and functional characterization of flavin-dependent enzymes including human monoamine oxidases, target enzymes for the treatment of tuberculosis, and flavin-dependent monoxygenases.

  • People working in Prof. Binda's research team:

  • Federico Forneris, associate professor of molecular biology.

Prof. Forneris is responsible for the Armenise-Harvard Laboratory of Structural Biology. His current research focuses on large macromolecular complexes involved in signalling, regulation and remodelling of synapses and the extracellular matrix.

  • People working in Prof. Forneris' research group:

  • Francesca Magnani, assistant professor of molecular biology.

Dr. Magnani´s research focuses on the structural and functional characterization of integral membrane proteins and membrane-embedded enzymed.
