Specific course objectives

An understanding of the principal decision making methodologies, Corporate Management in the “production” of Goods and Services and the analysis of the principal instruments of Management Control.

Basic elements of Financial Management: Structure – Human and Technical resources ; Subject – companies providing Goods and Services ; Management Information Systems – Accounting – Financial Control. New Product Development and Strategic Objectives - Analysis of current company position and potential strategic prospects. Analysis of the Product/Market mix and the current and future use of available resources. S.W.O.T. Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats). Strategy development and the Strategic Portfolio Matrix. Sales Organisation and Marketing Policy - The Market Mix. Sales Publicity and Promotion. Sales Organisation and the Distribution Network. Product Industrialisation and Investment Feasibility - The Decision Making Process. Financial Calculation techniques ; Break Even, Cash Flow, pay Back Period, Return on Investment , Net Present Value. Processes, Production, Procurement management - Continuous and Batch Processes. Machine Positioning and Work Flow. Production Capacity. Factory Location. Machinery Renewal. Project management. Materials and Services Procurement. Company organisation and Human Resource Management - The Division of Duties, Definition of Job Positions, Work Groups and size optimisation. The management of Horizontal Inter-reactions. Product and Services Costing, Corporate Planning and Control - Management Accounting. Cost Classification. Production Costs. Cost Determination. Marginal and Full Costing. Overhead Cost Allocation. Management Control and the Management Information System. Medium Term Planning. Annual Budgets and Reporting.
