Specific course objectives

Course programme

Geometrical constructions

  • Design instrument (description and use);
  • Drawing lines (large, thin, mixed lines, dotted lines, control of thickness, types of pencils, types of refils )
  • Geometrical constructions (fundamental constructions, construction of polygons, circumferences, archs and connections, notable curves, semplifyed constructions ( ellipse, oval, evolvent, etc) technical curves (evolvent of circle, cylindrical helic, Archimedean drill ))

Orthogonal projections

  • Orthogonal projections ( plane projections, orthogonal projections of simple geometrical figures, projections of simple solids);
  • Axonometric constructions (illustrative drawing )
  • Sectional views (sections of simple solids; intersections of solids)
  • Sectional views in the industrial technical drawing

Norms

  • International system of measurement
  • Rules and standard specifications
  • Meaning of different types of lines in drawing
  • Squaring off a drawing sheet

Drawing and mechanical working

  • Specification of materials and their characteristics
  • Moulding process from the liquid state, elements of foundry and diecasting

  • Manufactures for the removal of metal chips (machine tools, milling, lathe machining, drilling, reaming, slotting, broaching, grinding, lapping )

Dimensioning

Testing and exams

Students of mechanical are expected to draft a project during the course. There will be two test at the end of the course : a computer test and a graphic test. The oral exam may be replaced by a multiple choice questionnaire.
