Specific course objectives
The aim is to deep the knowledge of electromagnetic theory and application contents of remote sensing and diagnostic. The student will achieve the capability to analyze and formulate any remote sensing and diagnostic problems in terms of electromagnetic models and to choose suitable solution techniques.
Course programme
The electromagnetic problem of remote sensing and diagnostic.
Tensor analysis and Dyadic Tensor of Green.
Direct Electromagnetic Scattering:equivalent electromagnetic sources; electromagnetic equivalent scattering problems; electromagnetic scattering by natural surfaces (rural and urban areas, ground and see, etc etc)
Inverse Electromagnetic Scattering:deterministic exact formulation; uniqueness problem; non radiant and non measurable sources; approximated solutions;
probabilistic formulations; cost functions and minimization methods and algorithms (evolutional codes, genetic codes, artificial neural networks).
Applications:electromagnetic imaging, non invasive dielectric reconstruction, non destructive test, detection and recognition of buried objects (underground pollution, mines, archeological sites); electromagnetic absorption in biological bodies (human head and cellular phones).
